    Jesse Puljujarvi Welcome Thread

That's why I was pushing to trade the pick for Morgan Reilly or drop for Tkachuck. Obviously Laine made JP look better than he was .Nothing wrong with hard working NA players that play our game already and speak the language. Will we ever learn ?

    Any Rush fans here?

Definitely into the greatest Rock band that ever existed! heres me playing a cover of YYZ https://www.facebook.com/100003342265175/posts/1762263327228392/ Cheers!
  3. Yeah but these teams didn't finish near last and have so many questions to answer. They deserve a break we don't deserve one for being out worked.
  4. Arent the major moves made by Chia voted on by the management group? If this is the case they are all to blame and we have a bigger problem.
  5. Has the Oilers coaching system became old school in the sense that it has been done over and over and became predictable to all the other teams ? Especially the penalty kill and power play. The game has evolved we have the skill and grit but are we utilizing our assets properly especially Conner and Leon. Is this why TM has struggled with the playoffs against high calibre teams. San Jose doesn't play his game any more for a reason. We need to evolve or get left behind. This system is not working on a consistent basis. I think the kicker was everyone watching us in the playoffs analysts did their thing. We got out coached through a system in the playoffs and I wonder if the players knew this and that's when Todd lost their fath and the room. Some new blood added as assistants to Todd would really help.
  6. You would think that the Leafs in their rebuilding phase would be open to this move also another possible future line mate for Matthews ? Worth giving up a Dman for which they have time to develop with the rest of their core . Thoughts ?
  7. With the story about Yakapov wanting a trade could he be one of the pieces in this deal ? I sure hope so Yak gets a fresh start and Harmonic is given his request for a trade.
  8. heard a great "rumor" about Harmonic to the oilers for a draft pick and top 6 forward after being used for the playoffs and deal as good as done on both ends. Also another deal with Snow and another team leaving the Oilers with a veteran Dman. What pick and what forward do you all think may be involved ?

    Zack Kassian

Right on First goal and looking like he belongs in the NHL
  10. I think we will give up to much for an elite defense man. They need to be developed as prospects or usually you end up with a ridiculously long and expensive contract well beyond their usability as a star (phaneuf 49 million over 7 years ) But with some Patience we will improve our D without selling the farm. 2 above average or just average Dmen would change our back end drastically. The right deal in free agency or panic from another team unable to score will come. the other team doesn't see the value in the player or they would keep him and who would know the player better? Its not like were winning the cup this year !!
  11. could you imagine being responsible for trading trading Pronger in his youth (30 games) before he developed ? There aren't a lot of large framed d in the league that are as mobile and athletic like Nurse and have a heart and amazing hockey IQ at his age .He went from being not ready for the nhl to 20 plus minutes a night with a soft team with inexperienced goalies and so many injuries. That's a lot of pressure and responsibility for a rookie. Look how long the average D man takes to develop and the reduced role and sheltered minutes they play until ready. Ben Scrivens traded to Montreal for Zach Kassian

Could be the last stop for Zack lots to prove and lots of people to prove wrong. He definitely has the talent , now to see how Bad he wants to play hockey and how well the NHL rehab works.
  13. mesadude69

    No Trades....

Even better Scrivens included in the deal. Good luck Ben , lets see how he looks with Montreal's D in front of him, Now to move 3 or more softies for some D.
  14. mesadude69

    2 scoring lines or 3?

With the first two lines established with 2 skilled one larger the third and forth line doesn't have room for RNH Ebs and Lander but 2 larger bodies minimum per line that compete and can cycle the puck or shut lines down and add much needed grit. Gretzky /Kurri / worker Messier Anderson / worker 2 tough grinding lines ( Tik only smaller skilled player but tough and competitive )!and lots of big D and keep in mind the second line was tough as nails. Maybe Ebs / MCD/ Hendo Hall /Drais/ Purcell (if he can get more gritty) Pou/Nuge/park Yak /sleepy /Korp/Klink /Gazdic(Kassien type) Either way RNH , Lander , Ebs , Yak , Schultz , added together ( plus 2 scoring pairs) soften and expose our team to endless cycling and lack of compete. on top of Mcdavid to protect. Wait until they swallow the whistle in playoffs !! like Corey 93 said the pieces are there. Teams are getting desperate to score goals and we have lots of extra pieces . now just to find a balance.

    Zack Kassian

If so It wouldn't be the first time the oilers took on a troubled player or a project . Craig Mctavish himself was convicted of vehicular homicide while impaired and still had a rather decent career .Probert, Belfour , Corvo , Kane , Guy Lafleaur ,Ciccareli Roy ,more recently Varlamov ,Stoll , Byfuglien Avery and Voynov. Lots of projects but the trick is which ones are salvageable and at what risks to the chemistry of the young team.
