2013-14 Oilers Regular Season Point Predictions

152 posts in this topic

I think we finish with the last playoff spot in our new division, not sure how many points that takes with the new alignment.

As far as players go:

Hall 35G 50A 85pts

Yakupov 40G 30A 70pts (stamkosesk breakout)

Eberle 30G 30A 60pts

RNH 15G 45A 60pts (games missed)

Gagner 20G 30A 50pts

Perron 20G 25A 45pts

A lot of points, the +/- could be scary though

J. Schultz 15G 40A 55pts

Petry 10G 30A 40pts

Dubnyk 0.920S% 35 wins

We will be a bubble team. If we get in it not will come down to being able to gut out a few tough wins in 1 goal games, something we have struggled with the last few years

I'm going to make a bold prediction, 164 points.  Let the Oilers make another record in the NHL.

seriously though, I have no idea, I have a feeling we will be just out of a playoff spot, but I am really hoping I'm wrong.

89 points and just miss playoffs by 3 points. This is MacT team and that means close but no cigar.

I think oillio's number of points would be closer to missing the playoffs by 3 points(which i see as likely.

i think the West will dominate the East in cross conference play this year. As a result I could see 8th place in the west being in the high 90's maybe even 100, while the east will have a cut off in the 80's.

I'm going to say 112 points huge breakout year!

50-20-12 start of the oilers kicking butt!

Jordan Eberle - 30g 65a 95 pts

Taylor Hall - 40g 35a 75 pts

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - 20g 65a 85 pts

Nail Yakupov- 35g 25a 60 pts

Sam Gagner- 25g 30a 55 pts

David Peron- 25g 30a 55 pts

Ales Hemsky- 20g 20a 40 pts

Ryan Jones- 15g 15a 30pts

Jeff Gordon- 15g 15a 30 pts

IMO Eberle will not outscore Taylor Hall by 20 points ever.  Unless, of course, Hall plays >20 less games one year.

Well, I'm going to go optomistic:

45-29-8 = 98 points

Point Leaders:

Taylor Hall - 87 Points

Nail Yakupov - 71 Points

Sam Gagner - 70 Points

MacT seems obsessed with making the playoffs this coming season.  We will make a huge leap in the standings.  I see us coming short in our division but we may steal a wildcard spot and start the playoffs in the central division.

The reasoning?  Well, central division teams have to play the Blackhawks more than everyone else does for starters.  Second, pacific division teams get to play Calgary more than everyone else does (and we play them more than other Pacific division teams.).  Mostly though, I see the Central Division as too balanced.  Few standouts, and they will spread their points around a lot.

Pacific Division Playoffs

Los Angeles (110)

Vancouver (105)

San Jose (101)

Anaheim  (98)

Central Division Playoffs

Chicago (115 points)

St.Louis (108)

Minnesota (101)

Edmonton (95)

Booted: Dallas (92)

That's crazy that Jeff Gordon (a NASCAR driver) can step into the NHL and produce 30 points. Wow he must be really talented I guess? Unless you mean Boyd Gordon?

Taylor hall is a power forward a goal scorer. Eberle is a playmaker. Playmakers always get more points because of assists. Love Taylor hall too but Ebs will out score him in their respective careers period.

Ya, just like Eberle out scored him this last season right?

Now, if you would have said rnh instead of Eberle id be inclined to believe you.

But no. Eberle is not that good

you are too obsessed in the short term.  Eberle has outscored and outplayed Hall in the past.  Hall was better last season, and so that is supposedly the final verdict??? It's too early to say who will be the best of our forwards.  It may still be Eberle.

But I have to disagree with Jrock.  Both Hall and Eberle are fantastic snipers as well as playmakers.  Elite players often defy those labels.

As much as my mind keeps saying we make it close but still not enough to get there, the fan in me says a 96 point finish which should be enough to land us the final spot in our division or the wildcard. I'm still not too clear on the new playoff format though... :/

Hall is going to be a 40/40 guy who is strong physical and has a deadly shot he was on pace for 62 assists last season on a pg rate.  And over 90 points rate.  At 21 playing with a injured center and Eberle having a down year.  Hall will probably eclipse 100 point season at least once or twice.  But if we can ever get a healthy Hall Hopkins Eberle/Yaks  for a whole season and clicking they could be the best line in hockey.  And we have all there rights at least another 5 years.

No chance Eberle out scores hall unless its due to games missed. Yak and Nuge might. Not Eberle
